Yijia's Gallery
  • Paintings: Several of my watercolor paintings. It is a time-consuming thing to paint watercolor, so I haven't been doing it too much lately. Hopefully I will get back to it soon.
  • Miscellaneous Pictures: Various pictures that I took over the years.
  • Dad's Photo Gallery: My father has always been interested in photography. Here are some of the pictures he took.
  • June 2001 San Francisco: I took a one week trip to San Francisco with Matt, Adam, and Jim. We also met up with Steve, who were visiting a friend in Sacremento. The trip left us fond memories of San Francisco and California in general.
  • March 2002 Los Angeles/San Diego: Matt and I went to Los Angeles and San Diego for a week during spring break. It was the first time we traveled by ourselves, and we had an absolutely fantastic time.
  • Spring 2002 Digital Camera: My dad bought me a Canon PowerShot A40. It is a great digital camera, and I got my hands dirty right away. It snowed in March, so I took some nice pictures of the campus. Yes, the weather in central Illinois sucks.
  • May 2002 San Francisco/Las Vegas: My parents came to my college graduation and we went on a family vacation right after my graduation day. We flew to San Francisco and then drove to Las Vegas in our rented Ford Escort. It was a crazy schedule, but we all had a good time and a lot of fun.
  • August 2002 Kickapoo State Park: Went hiking with Matt and two other friends.
  • December 2003 New York City: Matt and I spent two days in New York City right after Christmas. It was a much needed break for both of us. We had great food and wandered around the city. I am glad that NYC is only a short train ride from Arlington.
  • Wedding-Before Ceremony: On April 3, 2004, Matthew and I were married in Chicago (technically Schaumburg, but nobody outside of Illinois knows where that is, so Chicago is good enough.) We went to Lincoln Park in the city to have formal portraits taken before the ceremony. Most of these photos are taken by our photographer Anthony Smith. Some came from my dad. You can see some photos on Anthony's web site.
  • Wu Zhen: Wu Zhen is a tiny town about a 2 hour bus ride from Shanghai. It is a tourist attraction mainly for how the town is constructed on several rivers. It was a worthwhile trip for us, but I am still trying to forget the bathroom I had to use there.
  • Old City Center in Shanghai: The old city center consists of the city god temple, Yu Yuan (a once private garden home), and lots of shops. That was what we visited the first full day we were in Shanghai. It is perhaps what Matt thought China was like.
  • Summer 2004 Hong Kong: We were in Hong Kong for 5 days. A short stop but we did have a great time there. We did a lot of shopping, wandered around the city, and tried odd Cantonese food. We got some nice photos mostly on the Hong Kong Island. There is a nice park in the middle of the island surrounded by all the high rise buildings. It contains a green house, a bird house, a teaware museum among other things.
  • Orchid: Some orchid photos taken with Minolta dimage 7i.
  • New Years Day 2005 Wolf Gap: To start off a more healthy year and take advantage of the balmy 70 degrees weather, we drove west for about an hour and hiked the Wolf Gap trail along the Virginia and West Virginia border.
  • January 9th 2005 Harpers Ferry: Located at the intersection of Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland, Harpers Ferry changed hands 8 times between 1861 and 1865 during the Civil War. Today the older part of it is largely desertted and turned into a depressing display of what it was and what had happened there. We went on a rather long hike and took some photos.
  • Summer 2004 Shanghai: The last batch of Shanghai photos from summer 2004.
  • Summer 2005 Huangshan Day 1: My parents, Matt and I spent two days hiking Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) in the Anhui province. We hiked about seven hours on the first day.
  • Summer 2005 Huangshan Day 2: We were mainly in the so called front mountain area on that day. We climbed the highest peak the lotus peak and made a return to the brightness top. There was no sunrise that day, but we did manage to take some cool pictures of the cloud.
